Join us on a musical mystery tour, 60 years on from the height of Beatlemania, as Ver Players reimagine the Fab Four’s legendary songbook – from Penny Lane to Abbey Road.
Following last year’s sell-out performance of the Pink Floyd-themed “Dark Side of the Uke”, Ver Players come together again this summer with a show specially created for the Roman Theatre: an evening of Beatles magic – with all songs performed on George’s favourite instrument, the ukulele.
Ver Players, based in St Albans, was founded by Stephen Wragg in 2012 and quickly established itself as one of the largest community ukulele groups in the UK with around 80 members. More than just a music group: it’s a social scene with added ukuleles, in which singing and strumming provide the focus to bring people of all ages together.
Over the past 12 years they have celebrated a number of musical anniversaries, with joyous performances on the theme of The Sound of Music, VE Day, Bridge Over Troubled Water, the Beatles’ Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper’s and Lonely Hearts Club Band and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.
