OVO and Make It Beautiful’s theatrical production of Gawain and the Green Knight makes its debut at this year’s Roman Theatre Open Air Festival.

When a mysterious, green figure bursts into Camelot and challenges Arthur’s knights to a game, Gawain decides to prove himself and steps up.  This decision thrusts him into a world of adventure and temptation that takes him on an heroic quest across the country and in search of the Green Chapel, where he must confront his fate.  Drama and plenty of comedy moments ensue!

Come and be entertained by this lesser-known legendary tale;  where Camelot becomes Camelot Corp, King Arthur its enthusiastic CEO, and Gawain the personification of the mundane 9-5 office job that someone hates, but can’t quite bring themselves to quit.  This updated, modernised and keenly re-interpreted production has been brought to life by an energetic and talented cast.

Make it Beautiful returns to the Roman Theatre Open Air Festival after a triumphant debut with their Canterbury Improv Tales in 2023. With its origins at the Drama Centre London, the company is dedicated to magical storytelling, long-form improvisation, comedy and unearthing the beautiful.
