British Schools Museum, Hitchin: 28th November – 30th December 2025

Vintry Garden, St Albans: 5th December – 30th December 2025

OVO’s critically acclaimed production of Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic returns by
popular demand for a fourth year to two new venues, including the historic walled Vintry
Garden, overlooking the Cathedral in St Albans, and the unique Grade II listed British
Schools Museum in Hitchin.

This open-air promenade experience will immerse audiences in the spirit of Christmas past,
present and yet to come. Written and directed by Royal Television Society winner, Mark
O’Sullivan (Lee and Dean, C4; Tell Me Everything, ITV;The Great Gatsby, OVO), this
magical 60 minute performance is guaranteed to delight, amuse and move both children and
adults alike.

OVO’s Artistic Director and Founder, Adam Nichols said: “We are delighted to bring A
Christmas Carol to two new venues this year. Vintry Garden is a beautiful historic setting
that evokes a sense of stepping back in time. The British Schools Museum is home to the
world’s last remaining purpose-built Monitorial schoolroom, aligning it perfectly with the
Victorian era in which A Christmas Carol is set.”

A sell-out for the past three years, this year’s production will open first at the British Schools
Museum in Hitchin on 28th November, followed by Vintry Garden in St Albans on 5th
December and will run at both venues until 30th December 2025.

Emma Calver, Museum Manager, British Schools Museum, said, “We are thrilled that OVO
will be performing their production of A Christmas Carol at the British Schools Museum this
winter. Our unique, Grade II listed space adds a powerful sense of history to the production,
which begins in the museum’s open-air playground and then moves indoors into the
schoolrooms themselves.”

Cllr Helen Campbell, Chair, Public Realm Committee, St Albans City & District Council said
“We’re delighted that Vintry Garden will provide the setting for OVO’s promenade production
of A Christmas Carol. It’s fantastic to see this historic city centre space being brought to life
with seasonal theatre for residents and visitors alike.”
