Savannah plays Stella Quickly in our production of The Merry Wives of Windsor, which has its second run at The Roman Theatre Open Air Festival to Sunday 30th June. The show is a fun, upbeat take on Shakespeare’s classic comic play, featuring popular music hits from the 1980’s.

We caught up with Savannah to ask about their experience of featuring in the show at the Roman Theatre.

How long have you been an actor, Savannah?

Since I was 15! I started doing it because I was obsessed with Shrek 2 and wanted to sing “Holding Out for a Hero” like the Fairy Godmother. What a coincidence that this song is on our show!

What do you most enjoy about performing at the Roman Theatre?

I’m excited to perform outdoors, using the natural elements of the Earth in our show! I hope we perform under a rainbow one day.

The production features classic hits from the 1980’s. What’s your favourite ’80’s tune and why?

I love funky 80’s music, so my favourite is DeBarge – specifically “I Like It”.

And if you could bring one thing back from the ’80’s, what would it be and why?

Synth machines on every music album ever….Or big hair….Or no cellphones!

Why would you recommend people see The Merry Wives of Windsor at the Roman Theatre Open Air Festival?

I recommend people see the show to see we can do Shakespeare in a million different interesting and fun ways.  My favorite part of the show is singing Salt n Pepa.
